Discover the musical journey of Jason DeGeorge, a versatile guitarist, session musician, and original artist, whose passion for the guitar has shaped a remarkable career in music.

The Early Years: Cultivating a Passion for Guitar

From Student to Teacher: A Natural Progression

My guitar journey began at age 14, and it quickly turned into a lifelong passion. By my junior year of high school, I was already teaching others, transforming from a guitar tutor to a skilled instructor. This early experience in teaching was invaluable, laying the foundation for my future in music education.

Formal Music Education: Building a Strong Foundation

Classical Guitar Training at County College of Morris

After high school, I pursued formal music education at County College of Morris, earning an Associate of the Arts degree in Classical Guitar. Under esteemed professors like Carol Hamersma and Dr. Richard Gradone, I honed my skills in dynamics and fingerstyle guitar.

Jazz Guitar Mastery at New York University

Continuing my education, I graduated from New York University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance, specializing in Jazz Guitar. My time at NYU was enriched by studying with music giants like Bucky Pizzarelli, Vic Juris, and Ron McClure, among others.

Professional Career: A Diverse and Dynamic Musician

A Versatile Guitar Instructor and Studio Musician

Post-graduation, I embraced the life of a full-time private guitar teacher, studio musician, and performer. My commitment to my craft is unwavering, whether I’m teaching students, recording in the studio, or performing live.

Collaborations and Performances with Renowned Artists

As a performer and session musician, I’ve collaborated with notable artists like Leanne Weiss of October Rose. My performance credits include sharing the stage with stars like Dierks Bentley and Kenny Rogers, and featuring on tracks used in shows like NCIS: New Orleans.

Original Music: A Creative Force in Instrumental Guitar

In 2020, I released my first instrumental track, a cover of Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite‘s “Nothing at All,” followed by my original composition, “Realizing Me.” Both tracks, available on streaming platforms, showcase my creativity and skill as an instrumental guitarist.

Dedicated to Teaching: Inspiring Students of All Ages and Levels

Despite my professional achievements, teaching remains a core passion. I am committed to providing personalized, fun, and inspiring guitar lessons for students of all ages and levels. From classical to electric guitar, my lessons are tailored to each student’s unique interests and goals.
